Johnson Mwangi graduated from the University of Charleston in Charleston, West Virginia with his Bachelor of Health in Health Science and his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Johnson has over 10 years of service in the United States Air Force as a commissioned officer currently in the rank of Major. He has a breadth of experience in primary care, urgent care, emergency medicine, and vascular surgery. During his active-duty service, he performed numerous skin biopsies and treated a vast number of skin conditions including rashes, skin eruption eczema, and bug bites among others. Mr. Mwangi has also assisted in the treatment of skin cancer. He is currently a Major in the Texas Air National Guard.
Johnson practices medical and cosmetic dermatology. Some of his favorite conditions to treat include acne, eczema, psoriasis, lipomas, fungal infections, and skin cancer prevention and treatment. “The condition of the skin says a lot about someone”, says Johnson. “When treated properly, the effects are clearly visible. I’m happy to be a part of my patient’s journey as their confidence increases”. Johnson is committed to treating every patient like family. He also believes that an informed patient is a better patient, and is dedicated to educating his patients throughout the process, ultimately leading to a better recovery. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society for Dermatology Physician Assistants.
Outside of work, Johnson enjoys spending time with his family, jogging, and bike riding. He also likes reading inspirational books and doing yard work in the summer. He is honored to serve the East Texas community and appreciates the small-town feel and friendly people.
