Online Dermatology, also referred to as TeleHealth or TeleDermatology, is a way to provide clinical care to patients using telecommunication technology. This can take place with real-time video visits and secure email with symptom and image sharing.

If you have a mole, freckle or even a persistent rash, our online dermatologists can connect with you through a secure video platform. In most cases, insurance will pay for your online dermatology visit. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Medicare is now covering telemedicine care and most major healthcare payors are following their lead. For that reason, we will collect your updated insurance information and submit the visit for reimbursement. Your normal co-pay will be collected prior to your virtual visit.

We will follow our normal billing procedures and will collect the necessary co-pay upfront as indicated on the patient’s insurance card. If there is a question regarding the co-pay amount, we will ask for a co-pay of $20 and will bill insurance. For all online visits, services are billed as if the service had been furnished in-person. For cash-pay patients, we will ask for a payment of $50 per visit.

We will make every effort to schedule your virtual visit with your regular dermatologist. When you request a virtual visit be sure to select your regular location, so your request is directed to the correct office.

All physicians who are a part of the U.S. Dermatology Partners network are on the same Electronic Health Record platform so notes from your visit will be stored in your personal health record and available for future reference.

Yes, your online dermatology visit can be accessed using most mobile devices with an internet connection.

If one of our online board-certified dermatologists see a potentially serious problem such as skin cancer, we will make arrangements for a biopsy and in-person exam.

If medication is required, our online dermatologists will electronically transmit the prescription to your local pharmacy or offer suggestions for over-the-counter medications or both.

Your privacy is important to us and so is maintaining confidentiality. In compliance with privacy standards, medical records are encrypted on a secure server.
