Dr. Rebecca Dufner is a double board-certified dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon with expertise in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She specializes in the medical management of chronic inflammatory skin diseases, patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis, and procedural dermatology, including skin cancer management and aesthetic dermatology. She is known for combining evidence-based best practices with a compassionate, patient-centered approach. She prioritizes listening closely to her patients and partnering with them to achieve optimal skin health in a way that aligns with their individual goals and values.
Dr. Dufner graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University, earned her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, and completed postgraduate medical training at Harvard-affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Tufts Medical Center. In medical school, she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, graduated with research honors in the top 5% of her class, and completed an MBA in Healthcare Management at the Heller School. She completed her intern year at Harvard-affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s community program, followed by dermatology residency at Tufts Medical Center, where she was selected as Academic Chief Resident. During residency, she also completed advanced elective training in aesthetic dermatology at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital Laser and Cosmetic Center and advanced training in patch testing with the President of the American Contact Dermatitis Society at Stanford University.
Prior to joining U.S. Dermatology Partners, Dr. Dufner was an Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Director of Digital Health and Clinical Innovation at Tufts Medical Center, where she also ran an advanced patch testing and contact dermatitis clinic. Dr. Dufner is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and is committed to clear communication, precise diagnosis, and long-term skin health for every patient she serves.
Dr. Dufner has published more than 20 peer-reviewed research papers on skin disease and management. She has presented nationally at the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery annual scientific meetings. She holds leadership roles within the American Academy of Dermatology, the nation’s largest professional organization for dermatologists. She is a peer-nominated Castle Connolly Rising Star in Dermatology, and her clinical expertise has been featured in national media outlets, including SELF and Reader’s Digest.
After her husband followed her cross-country for medical school and training, Dr. Dufner returned the favor and followed him home to Texas. She is excited for the warmth—both the weather and the people, and to make Texas home. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending time with family, being outdoors, exercising, and being a mom to her amazing kids.
