We strive to provide the best possible care for the medical, surgical and cosmetic needs of our patients. Dr. Sander believes it is important to practice the three “A’s” emphasized at the Mayo Clinic, where he trained in dermatology—to be Able, Amiable, and Available.
Medical dermatology includes treating common disorders of the skin, hair and nails, such as acne, eczema, dermatitis, infections of the skin, vitiligo, hair loss, psoriasis and skin allergies. However, Dr. Sander is also board-certified in internal medicine and has expertise in treating rare skin diseases such as cutaneous T cell lymphoma and lupus erythematosus. In an increased effort to flatten the curve and keep both the patients and health care workers safe, we now offer virtual dermatology visits for our Austin patients.
Screening patients for skin cancer is one of the most important tasks in our office. Melanoma is a potentially fatal skin cancer, and our Austin dermatologists are the frontline defenders in the fight against this serious health problem. Complete skin examinations are important because they are helpful in detecting moles, which may have a serious risk of developing into cancer. Of course, checking the skin for common pre-cancerous growths like actinic keratosis as well as basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma are a part of the complete skin examination.
