Dr. Lisa Guidry Pruett is originally from southern Louisiana. At an early age, she decided that she wanted to be a physician because of her love for science and learning. She spent summers working in her father’s internal medicine practice in Covington, Louisiana and watched her mother attend medical school while she was in high school. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama in 1999, where she was the recipient of the Septima Cecilia Smith Award, which is given to the most outstanding graduating biology major.
She then entered Louisiana State University School of Medicine where her husband, mother, father, brother, and sister all graduated with MD degrees. She was inducted into LSU’s chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha, the only medical honor society, as a junior with only six other junior medical students. She consistently scored in the 99th percentile nationally during medical licensure and dermatology inservice exams. Her interest in dermatology began during clinical rotations as a medical student when she was exposed to a variety of skin disorders in her pediatric, medical, surgical and obstetric rotations. She completed her internship in internal medicine at LSU Charity Hospital and her dermatology residency at LSU in Shreveport and New Orleans.
She started a dermatology clinic in the Northshore location of Ochsner Health System and was the sole dermatologist there for three years. She moved to Dallas in 2009 when she married her husband, Jon, who she practices with at U.S. Dermatology Partners Carrollton, formerly Trinity Dermatology, and Center for Aesthetic and Laser Medicine Carrollton (CALM Carrollton). Her interests include skin cancer detection, melasma, acne, and cosmetic dermatology. She is the co-founder of SolwearMD, a startup sun protective clothing company. When she is not practicing dermatology she is happily busy raising two sons and two daughters.
