Restylane is an injectable dermal filler gel made from hyaluronic acid to produce volume and fullness in the skin. This reduces the appearance of wrinkles and can also create fullness in the lips.
Restylane is generally considered safe for adults over the age of 21. However, since it contains lidocaine, it is not recommended for individuals with allergies to lidocaine. It is also not recommended for people with bleeding disorders or severe allergies.
Your care provider will discuss what results you wish to accomplish, and make the injections in corresponding areas to achieve the fullness you wish to restore to areas of your face or lips.
The most common side effects include tenderness, swelling, headache, bruising, pain, redness and itching. In rare cases, patients may have delayed hypersensitivity reactions or immediate allergic reactions.
The average face treatment will last up to nine months, while the average lip treatment will last three to four months. Your doctor at U.S. Dermatology Partners can discuss what kind of results you may be able to expect.
