What Is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is also known as eyelid surgery or an eyelid lift. It is done to remove excess skin and fat in the upper eyelids. While most blepharoplasty patients are female (85% of blepharoplasty procedures in the US in 2014 were performed on women), more and more men are also seeing the benefits of tightening sagging skin around the eyes.

What Is Botox?

Botox, the commercial brand name for botulinum toxin (BTX), is an injectable cosmetic dermatology treatment that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face.

Unlike injectable wrinkle fillers, which work by filling a crease in your skin with another substance, Botox actually relaxes targeted muscles to reduce the look of lines in the face. This results in smoother skin with a more youthful appearance.

Each Botox injection relaxes key facial areas by temporarily paralyzing specific muscles. This temporarily removes wrinkles and improves the look of laugh and frown lines, skin bands on the neck, crow’s feet, forehead creases and more.

Botox is a quick procedure that is done in just minutes in your doctor’s office.

Although it was originally developed to treat eye muscle disorders, Botox has become popular cosmetically and this is now its primary use. In fact, Botox injections are now the most common cosmetic treatment in the U.S., with 6.3 million procedures done in 2013. Because Botox inhibits the release of certain neurotransmitters, it is also sometimes used to treat chronic migraines.

Types of Chemical Peels Explained

When it comes to dermatological treatments that will help people reclaim a youthful glow, create an even skin tone, and minimize the appearance of scars, chemical peels offer a conservative solution that addresses all of these concerns. Chemical peels are versatile treatments that help to improve the health and appearance of the skin, and just about every patient could benefit from the procedure. What Is CO2 Laser Resurfacing?

The CO2 laser is a carbon dioxide laser that is used for skin resurfacing. Thin layers of skin are vaporized using a high-energy beam of laser light. This creates a “controlled injury” to the skin: as the skin heals, it produces collagen as a natural part of the healing process, which restores your skin’s elasticity.

CO2 laser resurfacing is designed to minimize wrinkles, reduce facial scarring, even out skin tone, and increase dermal collagen. When performed by an experienced provider, CO2 laser resurfacing typically is more effective than other treatments like dermabrasion or microneedling.

What Is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a safe, effective and non-surgical way to get rid of fat.  It is a form of body contouring that uses extremely low temperatures to freeze and permanently destroy fat in problem areas. As a quick treatment with no downtime or recovery time afterward, it is an easy way to target problem areas that are resistant to diet or exercise.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers (also known as facial injections, as well as many brand names) include a variety of products that are injected into the skin to replace lost volume, enhance lips, reduce wrinkles and rejuvenate the skin overall.

There are many brand-name facial injections available including Juvederm, Restylane, and Sculptra. These injections use fillers such as collagen, hyaluronic acid, and calcium hydroxyapatite and can be helpful in combating early signs of aging.

What Is Dysport?

Dysport is a prescription injection used for the temporary improvement in severe frown lines between the eyebrows. As the muscles relax and prevent contractions, wrinkles in and around the brow and frown area will disappear.

Dysport, also known as Reloxin, is made from a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum; it is the same neurotoxin used in BOTOX Cosmetic.

What Is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a type of cosmetic surgery used to break up and “suck” fat from various parts of the body, such as the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, neck, chin, upper arms, calves and back.

Even though liposuction removes fat, it is not designed as a weight loss treatment. Rather, liposuction is for people who are within 10% of their ideal body weight, but cannot shake stubborn fat deposits in specific areas of the body.

What Our Patients Say

Christopher Surek, DO
5 Stars  Dr. Surek was very thorough in my consult prior to Mohs and then plastic surgery. He answered all my questions and I felt I had sufficient information. The office arranged consecutive day procedures, which was very considerate. On the day of surgery, he shared pictures of the areas uncovered by the Mohs procedure and his opinion of the best way to approach it. The repair covered a relatively large area over which he grafted skin from another and non-critical part of my body. Now 2 days post-op, no complications and no significant pain. I give his team and him five stars and a hearty recommendation. I have to wait for the unveiling for a final review, if any, but I'm looking forward to a great result. 9 months post-op: couldn’t be happier based on size of the area on my nose that needed rebuilding. My nose looks very natural unless closely scrutinized. Have not had anyone remark on the area fixed - saw sons and grandchildren after getting my COVID shots and none saw anything until I pointed it out. I highly recommend Dr. Surek. –

5 Stars  I was very nervous about having facial fillers although I really wanted it done. I chose Dr. Surek because he is a trusted leader on the cutting edge of the field of dermal fillers with many accolades to his credit. He listened to what (I thought) I wanted, then made suggestions about what he was able to do. Dr. Surek knew exactly what he was doing, explaining as he went when I should anticipate a pinch or poke and that was that. I could not be happier with the whole experience! I couldn’t recommend him or his wonderful office staff more highly. Will definitely be back for more of Dr. Surek’s magic. –
