Dr. Robert Silverman, a Washington, D.C., native, currently practices pediatric and general dermatology in Fairfax, Virginia, at U.S. Dermatology Partners Fairfax.
Dr. Silverman graduated from Washington & Lee University and the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, followed by a pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, New York. He spent two years in a pediatric dermatology clinical research fellowship at the Children’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. His dermatology training was completed at the University Hospitals of Cleveland, where he was the first director of pediatric dermatology at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. Dr. Silverman is board certified in pediatrics, dermatology, and pediatric dermatology.
In 1989, Dr. Silverman moved back to the nation’s capital. He currently holds a clinical associate professor position at Georgetown University. He has served as president of the Washington, D.C., Dermatological Society and as director of the dermatology section at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He has held leadership positions in the American Academy of Pediatrics section on dermatology and the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, of which he was president. He served on the American Board of Dermatology and was its vice president. Currently, he is serving on several committees for the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Silverman is a teacher, mentor, and is widely published in his field.
