How Is Spectra Performed?

Before beginning the procedure, wet towels are placed around the face because some of the laser heat is absorbed by the humidity in the air. The laser is passed over the skin giving off quick pulses. The skin is sprayed with a saline solution between laser passes to keep it cool; the process usually takes about less than an hour.

Generally you’ll only feel a slight warming of your skin and a mild prickling sensation, which means an anesthesia isn’t necessary.

Are There Side Effects to Spectra?

After treatment, your skin may be slightly red, but that usually disappears within a few hours. In rare cases, some patients may experience itching or swelling for a few days; scabs; minor bruising; infection; and temporary hypo or hyper-pigmentation.
