Having 5 or more sunburns doubles your risk for melanoma, shared the Skin Cancer Foundation.
“With sun exposure there’s a lot of risk and there’s different types of skin cancer, melanoma being the most worrisome, there are other skin cancers that can cause significant damage and mortality,” Dominguez said.
Jason Dominguez said self-exams can be life-saving and are important to do daily. Dominguez recommended checking for changes in moles and also making sure to apply sunscreen daily, paired with reapplication frequently throughout the day.
