If you have a rash that doesn’t clear up on its own, a dermatologist can supply you with prescription medication or help you find the cause and avoid it. Problems such as acne can sometimes fail to respond to commercial solutions, and require treatment from a dermatologist.

Another time many people may not realize they should visit the dermatologist is when they want to improve the way their skin looks. Even if there is nothing medically wrong with your skin, problems such as wrinkles and scarring left by acne or even visible veins and sun spots can make your skin look unattractive. Dermatologists want you to have healthy, attractive skin, so many of them offer cosmetic services that can reduce or eliminate wrinkles and treat skin with imperfections such as scars and uneven pigmentation.
