During the segment, Jason also highlights the addition of Mohs surgery at the Odessa clinic with Fellowship-Trained Mohs Surgeon Dr. Eugen Stancut, bringing highly specialized skin cancer treatment closer to home for local patients. In 2025, over 200,000 Americans were diagnosed with skin cancer. Thankfully, five months ago, U.S. Dermatology Partners Odessa opened their doors to the public.
The Odessa office offers everything from cosmetics to medical dermatology. Among some of the medical services offered are treatment for acne, Psoriasis, and skin cancer. Despite a wide range of treatments, the Odessa office stands out due to its ability to conduct MOHS Surgery. Named after Dr. Frederic E. Mohs, a certified physician assistant, Jason Dominguez explains the procedure.
“Most of the time that we see a patient and a biopsy is taken and we’ve identified a skin cancer, if it meets the criteria for Mohs, those patients are scheduled for that procedure,” Dominguez said. “What that entails is a patient would come in, our Mohs surgeon would look at the area and identify where the biopsy was taken. He would then perform an excision or take a piece of the area, and it’s called staging.”
Those who may be victims of skin cancer may discover the spots or bumps in various ways, but Dominguez mentions always keeping an eye out for potential irregularities.
“Year-round and daily, we recommend sunscreen, and it’s also recommended by the American Academy of Dermatology, and daily sunscreen with at least an SPF of 30 or more 15 minutes prior to leaving your house.”
