Q&A with Paul Singh, CEO, US Dermatology Partners

Paul Singh, CEO, U.S. Dermatology Partners

About the company: U.S. Dermatology Partners is one of the largest dermatology practices in the country with nearly 100 locations across eight states that span large cities and rural, underserved communities.

About the honoree: Singh said he has always been fascinated by “immense inefficiencies” in our health care.

“I spent the early part of my career working in the finance side of health care in an effort to further investments into companies that were generating change for the industry,” Singh said. “When I had the opportunity to lead U.S. Dermatology Partners, I knew it would be an incredible moment to make an impact in the sector by driving organizational change that I hope will spread throughout the industry.”

What opportunity for your company over the next year has you most excited about?

I am most excited about our Outreach Program, which will expand access to health care to underserved populations, including minorities and those living in rural communities. We’ve committed to opening 30 locations in the next three years across eight states, and we’ll soon be opening offices in Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Virginia, Texas, and Oklahoma. Opening locations nationwide in areas that lack access will be critical to helping us bridge inequity. 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70, but there’s a 99% survival rate when skin cancer is detected early.

What is the single biggest thing that will change your industry in the future?

Without a doubt, digital transformation is and will continue to change our industry for the better. Health care has been slow to adopt the technology. The COVID-19 pandemic forced health care providers to acknowledge what many of us had been working toward – a better patient experience that can be aided and supplemented by digitization. We’ve rolled tools such online registration and patient self-scheduling which streamlines requests and gives patients the ability to schedule when it is most convenient for them. Digital transformation will put decisions in the hands of consumers and create a more seamless health care experience for all.
