Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer that strikes one in five people by the age of 70. In most cases, those cancers are curable if treated early enough. Unlike cancers that develop inside the body, skin cancers form on the outside and are usually visible. That’s why skin exams, both at home and with a dermatologist, are especially vital.
The Skin Cancer Foundation’s mobile skin cancer screening and education program has provided 32,000 free skin cancer screenings and identified nearly 13,000 potential skin cancers and pre-cancers, including 615 suspected melanomas, the most dangerous form of skin cancer.
