SILVER SPRING, Md. – U.S. Dermatology Partners is pleased to welcome Dr. Damien Abreu, a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained dermatopathologist, to its Bethesda Dermatopathology Lab (BDL) division.

Dr. Abreu brings an extensive background in dermatology, molecular genetics and genomics, and clinical research. His expertise will support BDL’s work providing diagnostic interpretations that help referring physicians identify skin conditions and guide patient care.
Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Abreu earned his bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University before completing his MD and PhD in Molecular Genetics and Genomics at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He completed his internal medicine internship and dermatology residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine, where he participated in the dermatology physician-scientist program and served as chief resident. He then completed a dermatopathology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Abreu’s professional interests include inflammatory skin diseases, hair and pigmentary disorders, and dermatologic conditions across diverse skin tones.
