Skin tags:
These are benign skin growths that often resemble tiny balloons suspended on slender stalk-like skin growths. People can have anywhere from just one to hundreds. Sometimes these growths fall off on their own, many will stubbornly cling once formed. The medical name for it is acrochordon. They often start out as small, pinhead-sized bumps. Many remain small, but sometimes a skin tag can grow to the size of a large grape.
Where they often occur:
- Neck
- Armpits
- Eyelids
- Upper chest
- Groin fold areas
Ways to remove skin tags:
- Freezing: We utilize liquid nitrogen to remove the skin tag.
- Burning: We use electric cauterization methods to eliminate the skin tag.
Other information to know:
- It’s best to have a dermatologist remove any bothersome skin tags. We have the knowledge and expertise to determine if it is just a skin tag and the most effective removal technique.
- No medically approved creams exist to remove skin tags. It’s advised not to use wart removers, tea tree oil, tooth paste, nail polish or hair removal creams. These can cause additional complications.
