PRP Hair Treatment Centreville

Illness, stress, genetics, and aging are among the many causes of hair loss. At Dermatology Associates of Northern Virginia, now a part of U.S. Dermatology Partners,  we are dedicated to helping individuals achieve the results they desire and offer a variety of treatments including  PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatment to restore hair and help renew confidence.

PRP Hair TreatmentUtilizing PRP therapy for hair loss

Blood contains platelets, which aid in clotting and promote healing. Platelets contain growth factors that promote regeneration of cells. Utilizing the patient’s own platelets can be ideal because they promote hair growth. There is virtually no risk of side effects with PRP therapy.

Understanding treatment

We draw a small amount of the patient’s blood. We then place it in a special container before it is put in a centrifuge. We spin the blood for about 15 minutes, separating the platelets from the liquids. For patient comfort, we apply topical anesthetic to the treatment area before the procedure. Then, we prepare the scalp for application of the platelet rich plasma with a special micro-needling roller device. The platelet rich plasma is injected into the scalp.

Another use for PRP treatment

PRP has been utilized in various ways in the medical field including orthopedics. We use PRP for hair restoration as well as facial rejuvenation. Lines and wrinkles on the face can be bothersome and may be caused by excessive sun exposure, smoking, chewing tobacco, and the natural process of aging. In addition to dermal fillers, Botox, and other innovative treatments to help reverse the signs of aging, we rejuvenate the face with PRP. The patient’s blood platelets promote the body’s natural healing mechanisms, which helps to restore a more youthful appearance.
