Acne is a difficult condition to treat because it has several underlying causes. Some people suffer from acne due to genetics, whereas others face external factors. Although there is no “cure” for acne, Dr. Downie and her team can help patients manage the condition. Skin care regimens can be tailored to help patients attain healthier and more attractive skin.

Finding relief in chemical peel treatment

There are several types of acne from mild to severe. Acne can include whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, or nodules. Chemical peels are one of several treatments Dr. Downie and her team offer to patients battling acne. The right chemical peel can reduce the appearance of acne and acne scars. Adults suffering from acne can count on a treatment that lasts minutes. The type of peel and chemical used will determine the recovery period. Some chemical peels require no downtime, whereas with others, there is minimal downtime from work or other activities.

Tailoring treatments to the individual needs of patients

Chemical peels are safe and effective treatments for acne. They can be used to treat many conditions including skin discoloration and sun-damaged skin as well as lines and wrinkles. The results of treatment often include a rejuvenated appearance, a more youthful aesthetic, and renewed confidence.

Dr. Downie will typically recommend six or more chemical peels to achieve optimal results; however, it depends on the type of treatment. Light and medium chemical peels may be performed a few times a month until desired results are achieved. After the chemical solution is applied to the skin, it will naturally slough off, revealing fresh skin. Patients can sit back and relax during treatment while the Image Dermatology team pampers their skin.
