Preparing for laser treatment
If you feel laser resurfacing might be ideal for you, here are some things you should be sure to let us know during consultation:
- If you get cold sores or fever blisters. Laser treatment may trigger a breakout.
- Medications you take. Some medications affect blood clotting. To minimize side effects, we will ask these not to be taken for a few days prior to treatment.
- If you smoke. Smoking can prolong healing, so we advise quitting for a couple of weeks before treatment.
What to expect during the procedure
This is an outpatient procedure performed in our office. Often, we can use just local anesthesia on the parts of the face to be treated. If only portions of the face are being addressed, treatment takes about 30 to 45 minutes.
