A cosmetic dermatologist can help patients achieve their goals for a more youthful appearance. Men and women will find a team of board certified dermatologists at Dermatology Associates of Northern Virginia, now a part of U.S. Dermatology Partners, who are highly skilled in addressing general as well as cosmetic dermatological needs. Whether patients suffer from acne or want to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, our team has successfully treated patients for more than 20 years. One of our most popular cosmetic treatments is Botox.

Although many salons, spas, and medi spas offer Botox, it is best if it is received from a board certified dermatologist. At our practice, dermatologists perform cosmetic procedures such as Botox, leg vein treatments, dermal fillers, and laser therapies. The first step of treatment begins with a consultation.

Preparing for treatment

At a consultation, the dermatologist will carefully analyze the patients’ skin concerns. A patient is offered a full skin analysis with VISIA, creating a digital image of his or her complexion. Then, our experienced esthetician or cosmetic coordinator will share valuable information such as textural variations, photo damage, or other unique concerns regarding the patient’s skin.

In addition to a skin analysis, the medical history of the patient is reviewed. The patient will also be asked about medications he or she takes. Using this information, a treatment plan and skin care regimen is designed to meet the individual needs of the patient.

Reversing the signs of aging

For some patients, we may recommend Botox, a highly effective neuromodulator. Botox has been used to treat the signs of aging for more than 20 years. It reduces muscle activity when injected into specific areas of the face. When certain muscles relax and stop contracting, the face becomes smoother.

We use Botox to treat lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and at the corners of the eyes. We topically numb the treatment area before administering the injection. Treatment lasts minutes and can be completed on a lunch break. There is no downtime, allowing a patient to return to work or resume normal activities immediately after an appointment.
