Know your alphabet
Moles may be flat or raised, and range in color from flesh tone to tan, brown, pink, red, blue, or black. It is a good idea to check skin all over, monthly, to look for these signs of a mole that could be a problem:
- A – Asymmetry. If you drew a line down the center, would the halves look different?
- B – Border. Are the edges of the mole blurred or ragged?
- C – Color. Does it contain more than one color?
- D – Diameter. Is the mole larger around than a pencil eraser?
- E – Evolving. Does the mole look different than others? Has the size, shape, or color changed? Does it itch, hurt, or bleed?
