Tips for Skin Cancer Prevention

May 4, 2017

In addition to regular screenings with your dermatologist in Dallas, there are steps you can take each day to reduce your risk of skin cancer like melanoma. In fact, while skin cancer remains one of the most prevalent cancers in the U.S., the ability to prevent it is in your hands. This video explains more.

One of the most important things you can do to prevent melanoma and other skin cancers is to wear sunscreen each day. Don’t forget your hands and your feet, and re-apply it every two hours when you’re swimming or sweating. Skin cancer prevention can also take the form of wearing clothing to protect your exposed skin, seeking shade during peak sun hours, and wearing a hat. Be sure to get regular dermatology screenings and to report any suspicious changes in your skin to your dermatologist.
