College Station, TX – U.S. Dermatology Partners is pleased to announce the opening of its College Station office, offering convenient access to state-of-the-art treatment of skin cancer. The new office will provide a local option for patients diagnosed with skin cancer beginning May 3rd. Previously, patients have traveled as far as Houston to receive treatment.
The new 3,000 square foot office will include 6 exam rooms including three surgery rooms and specialized Mohs equipment. Surgeries will be performed by Nancy Marchell, MD, a fellowship-trained Mohs Surgeon. Marchell completed a Mohs and laser fellowship in San Diego, California and has performed more than 12,000 surgeries.
Mohs Surgery is the most effective treatment for most types of skin cancer. The Mohs procedure involves surgically removing the cancer layer by layer and examining the tissue under a microscope until healthy, cancer-free tissue around the tumor is reached (commonly referred to as clear margins). Mohs Surgery fellows are trained as a cancer surgeon, pathologist, and reconstructive surgeon. Mohs Surgery has the highest success rate of all treatments for skin cancer – up to 99%.
