Dallas, Texas – The U.S. Dermatology Partners practices in Austin, Texas, and Rockville, Maryland, are among the top 20 national sites based on enrollment in the Corrona Psoriasis Registry, a joint collaboration between the National Psoriasis Foundation and Corrona, LLC created to serve as a central repository for clinical data on the safety and effectiveness of approved psoriasis therapies.
“The research helps build patient relationships, encourages open dialogue, and increases patient education,” says Dr. Lockshin. “It also facilitates earlier intervention with potential challenges such as medication side effects or treatment problems.”
In 2018, the Austin practice enrolled 43 new patients for the registry and the Rockville office enrolled 42 new patients. Both practices have collectively enrolled over 350 patients over the course of their participation. Of equal significance, both practices continue quality follow-up care for patients enrolled in previous years.
Approximately 432 dermatology health providers at 201 clinical practices across the U.S. and Canada contribute data to the registry, which is one of the mechanisms designated by the FDA to study the long-term safety of newer treatments. At the Austin offices of U.S. Dermatology Partners, seven physicians and physician assistants work with patients in the registry. Dr. Ben Lockshin conducts the work in Rockville.
Patients who agree to be part of the registry allow the medical team to collect comprehensive data on key outcomes while on systemic treatment for psoriasis. This data will help shape research and care for future psoriasis patients.
