Dr. Calvin Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from DePaul University in Chicago and a doctorate of medicine from Harvard Medical School in Boston. He completed his internship at the University of Chicago Medical Center then arrived in Dallas for his dermatology residency at UT Southwestern.
“I began to notice early in life how important our outside appearance can affect how we feel and how we’re perceived by the world around,” Dr. Williams says. “Our skin is not only important for our appearance, but also for our overall health, which is why in medical school I made the decision to become a dermatologist.”
“The most rewarding part of practicing in dermatology is being able to participate in the care of my patients and observe their improvement,” Dr. Williams says.
Dr. Williams enjoys treating all skin types and has a particular interest in treating skin of color. As an African-American dermatologist, Dr. Williams understands first hand how darker skin can often get misdiagnosed. Some skin conditions appear much differently on darker complected skin compared to lighter skin tones, such as eczema and psoriasis. If not diagnosed and treated properly, patients with darker skin can suffer pigmentation problems.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family members, traveling, attending sporting events and mentoring at-risk youth.
Dr. Williams provides care at U.S. Dermatology Partners Keller in Fort Worth, Texas.
