HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing from U.S. Dermatology Partners

What is HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Life is tough on skin. From sun damage, wrinkles, and scars to chronic skin conditions like acne,  the signs of daily wear are likely written right on your skin. Dermatologists provide a range of treatments to address the flaws in your skin’s appearance, including laser skin resurfacing, so you no longer have to show your years. HALO laser resurfacing improves the tone and texture of the skin, diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and increases the production of collagen and elastin to promote long-term improvement for smooth, youthful-looking skin.

HALO laser skin resurfacing treatment improves the tone & texture of the skin, diminishes fine lines & wrinkles, & increases the production of collagen.

HALO laser resurfacing is an innovative treatment option that uses a hybrid fractional laser that combines both ablative and non-ablative lasers. Ablative lasers remove the top layer of skin, and they deliver a more significant change in the skin’s appearance. Ablative laser treatment is often recommended to address moderate to deep wrinkles, scars, and inconsistency in skin tone. Non-ablative lasers are directed at heating the underlying layers of skin to remove the damaged skin cells and jump-start the production of collagen. These laser resurfacing treatments are typically recommended to create an even skin tone and texture. HALO is the only laser resurfacing system that combines both ablative and non-ablative lasers to deliver exceptional results with minimal discomfort and downtime for patients. The unique HALO Laser system allows dermatologists to provide precise laser skin resurfacing and safe, consistent results. Other types of lasers require as many as six treatment visits before patients achieve the desired results, but HALO treatment is usually completed in just one to two visits.

Who is a Good Candidate for HALO Laser Resurfacing?

Who is a Good Candidate for HALO Laser ResurfacingHALO laser skin resurfacing is an effective treatment option in a variety of situations to improve the health and appearance of skin. It is effective on all skin types and all areas of the face and body.

You may be a good candidate for HALO laser resurfacing if you’re interested in improving the appearance of:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Other signs of aging like dark spots
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Acne scars and other scarring
  • Enlarged pores

While most patients can safely and effectively receive HALO laser resurfacing, there are a few situations where this treatment is not recommended, including when treating patients who:

  • Have a history of cold sores or blisters
  • Have a history of irregular scarring, including keloid scars
  • Regularly take aspirin or blood thinners
  • Recently used isotretinoin medications to treat acne
  • Some chronic health concerns that impact immune function

How Does HALO Laser Resurfacing Treatment Work?

HALO laser skin resurfacing is a comfortable, cosmetic dermatology solution. To ensure patient comfort throughout treatment, we’ll apply a small amount of numbing medication to the treatment area. During treatment, the HALO system’s cooling mechanism prevents the discomfort caused by the laser’s heat. The HALO system uses both an ablative and non-ablative laser that can be independently adjusted during treatment to ensure the most precise treatment. The system will continuously track the progress throughout treatment and recognize when you’ve achieved consistent results across the treatment area. Most patients describe the sensation of treatment as making their skin feel warm and tingly, but they have little to no pain or discomfort. Within a day of treatment, you will start to see improved appearance with noticeable results developing over several weeks as the damaged skin cells treated by the HALO laser are processed out of the body and replaced by new, healthy skin cells. Additionally, the HALO laser skin resurfacing process stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, so you’ll continue to see improvement over the course of several months. You’ll also need fewer retreatment visits to maintain your results.

Are There Side Effects to HALO Laser Resurfacing Treatment?

Because the HALO laser skin resurfacing system allows for precise application and combines ablative and non-ablative lasers for the most conservative treatment, patients heal quickly. You may notice the treated area feels warm and can appear red for a few hours after treatment. Apart from the initial skin redness and warmth, the side effects of HALO laser skin resurfacing are very mild and may include swelling and minor discomfort for a few days after your treatment. Treated skin may also be dry or peel. For about a week after treatment, you may notice your skin has a bronzed tone.

How Long Does HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment last?

How Long Does HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment lastUnlike other types of laser skin resurfacing that can require up to six treatment sessions, HALO laser resurfacing can deliver the desired results in just one or two visits. Your specific treatment plan will be determined in partnership with your dermatologist to ensure you achieve the desired results. Following your treatments, it can take a week to months for you to see the final results as new, healthy skin is revealed. If you choose HALO skin resurfacing to address scarring or discoloration in a specific area, you are unlikely to need retreatment. If you’re using HALO laser resurfacing for signs of aging and accumulated skin damage like sun spots, fine lines, or wrinkles, you may need to schedule periodic retreatment or combine your HALO with BBL. Because HALO laser skin resurfacing stimulates collagen production, the results of these treatments are maintained significantly longer than similar treatments like neurotoxin injections. Most patients only need laser skin resurfacing retreatment once a year. Your dermatologist will monitor your results and help you determine the right retreatment plan.
